Coins collecting

Coins collecting is the collecting or trading coins or other forms of legal tender marked.

of interest to collectors often those who were circulated for only a short time, mint coins with errors and pieces of singular beauty or historical significance. Coin collecting can be differentiated from numismatics in that the latter is the systematic study of foreign exchange. While highly related disciplines are two not necessarily the same. A numismatist may or may not be a coin collector and vice versa.

History

People accumulated coins value of gold, provided that the coin is minted. However, collecting coins for their artistic value, was a later development. Evidence of archaeological and historical records of ancient Rome and medieval Mesopotamia suggest that the coins were collected and cataloged by scholars and government treasuries. It also seems likely that individuals were collected ancient coins, commemorative exotic or as an affordable and portable art. According to Suetonius, in his Caesarum De Vita (life of the Twelve Caesars), written in the first century AD, Emperor Augustus in junctional and exotic ancient coins to their friends and courtiers at festivals and other special occasions.Coin collecting modern and appreciation began around the fourteenth century. In the Renaissance it became a fashion among some members of the privileged classes. The Italian scholar and poet Petrarch is credited with being the first year and most famous amateur. Following his example, many European kings, princes and other nobles maintain collections of ancient coins. Some notable collectors were Pope Boniface VIII, Emperor Maximilian [disambiguation needed] of the Holy Roman Empire, Louis XIV of France, Ferdinand I, Henry IV of France and the Elector Joachim II of Brandenburg, which started in Berlin coin cabinet (German: Berlin Münzkabinett). Perhaps because only the very wealthy could afford to carry out, in Renaissance times, coin collecting is known as the "Hobby of Kings".During the 17 and 18 century coin collection kept track of the well-to-do. However, rational, Enlightenment thinking resulted in a more systematic approach to the accumulation and study. Numismatics as an academic discipline emerged in the centuries in the same time as coin collecting became a pastime for a growing middle class, eager to demonstrate their wealth and sophistication. During the 19 and 20 century, coin collecting grew further in popularity. The currency market was expanded to include not only the ancient coins, but in foreign currency or other exotic. Coin shows, trade associations and regulators occurred during these decades. The first international convention for coin collectors was held 15-18 agosto 1962 in Detroit, Michigan, and was sponsored by the American Numismatic Association and the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association. Attendance is estimated at 40,000. As one of the oldest and most popular hobbies in the world is coin collecting now often referred to as the "King of the present".
