How To Train a Dog Fast
The fastest and easiest way to be perfectly
behaved companion dog is to buy a stuffed
toy. What? You
do not like that answer? So what do you want? Nothing
worth while comes
"quickly and easily."
If you jumped look at this page because you thought that I would tell you how to teach your dog to be a perfect companion in five minutes, and then we talk. If you do not want plain talk from the heart, then you're in the wrong place. My goal here is to save the life of your dog. If I can do that then it is worth risking hurting your feelings. It's going to be rough because I care about. Oh and if you got here via a search engine, I did not intend it that way, I just forgot how they work and it is not blocked by them. So if you're sensitive souls May just want to quit while you're ahead. Hm, now and beyond:
If you want someone to tell you a quick and simple way to train your dog, then you need to rethink your decision to be a dog owner. Dog ownership is a big responsibility and there is nothing simple and quick about it. The only fair thing to do is to confront their assumptions and illusions. If you are not prepared for it, then you need to rethink your decision to have a dog. OK, let's talk.
If you have a general idea and are ready to devote time and energy to have a wonderful relationship with your dog, then search for all sites dog training or behavior. Otherwise, let's see if I can convince you that you need not spend time and energy to make your dog a wonderful friend and companion, or you need to consider finding a home for the dog more carefully. I digress a bit, because I want to hit on some things that arise from time to time and I do not quite understand how to fit them in.
Dog ownership is a responsibility.
If you have a dog "for children", then think about what you are going to teach them. You will teach them to look for quick answers and give up if you do not find them? Or will you teach them that it takes a good job to have good results. You will teach them responsibility means toughing it when things go wrong, or something that requires effort to just give up? You will teach them that friendship takes work, or if you do not have instant rapport and understanding that you should get rid of his friend.
Please make no mistake about how to find your dog a new home. Some lucky dogs to find new homes. I've got both of mine from a shelter. Still many very fine dogs die every day in shelters. This includes both the mixed and pure. Large mixed breeds die more often. A lot of teenagers or young dogs end up in shelters because people could not give them the necessary basic training, and do not have the patience to put up with teenage antics.
A dog is a pack animal. He prefers to stay with his companions. Many people think the dog wants to be outside in the backyard. While some dogs can, and some will accept it, most dogs want to be with his people. When people leave their dogs outside or just the dog is at high risk. The risk is that the dog will become a nuisance and eventually end up in a shelter. A dog will do anything just to relieve that stress. Typically they will bark, howl, dig, or become destructive. They can bite people who do visit them, thus causing fewer visits. This biting behavior is often due to frustration of being kept separate fellowship.
You
can successfully keep outdoor dog, but if you read this to learn the
quick and easy to train dog I highly doubt that you will spend the
necessary time. If you are not allowing dogs in the house, then you should take time to socialize. It is time that you and the dog interact. It should last one to two hours, preferably more. It should include daily preparation of the dog. Go over it with both brush and comb from head to toe. Inspect the feet, fingers, teeth and ears. Do this to keep the dog used to it. Rub all over the dog. Play with the dog. Play fetch, or teach him tricks. Make it fun. Then throw in ten or fifteen minutes of training "come" "sit" "down" "stay." Keep it light and happy. Feed the supper of the dog as treats during this time.
If you have a dog "for protection", then realize the enormous responsibility you have. Your dog should be safe to have around. In most states it is not "strict liability" for dog bites. This means that you are financially responsible for a dog bite, even if you did not know that the dog bite. This means that you are responsible, even if the dog accidentally escaped. And if you did something to increase the likelihood that the dog will bite, then in many states can be held criminally liable.
In most states, you will be liable if your dog bites a casual intruder. You can use reasonable force to repel an invader. In most states inflict puncture wounds on a casual intruder is considered excessive use of force. What kinds of things increase the likelihood of a dog bite? Leaving a dog tied in a yard, allowing unsupervised access to a fenced area that fronts on a public street or other place where people spend, not to teach the dog to tolerate being treated (especially around food), and Of course, shaking the dog or encouraging him to become aggressive. Most dogs can protect the house very well with what is being taught to be aggressive. More importantly an untrained dog is highly likely to bite a person who has done nothing wrong. Teaching your dog to be polite and tolerant of other people does not interfere with the ability of the dog to protect him. Actually you are more likely to have the dog back if you can trust him around strangers.Teaching a dog to be a good companion takes time and effort. In order to have a great companion dog and the dog should be around enough people who do not have much opportunity to interact with people. During this interaction, there will be love and affection, but there will also be instruction in socially acceptable behavior polite.
